Face Coverings from 30th November 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are looking forward to welcoming students back to Wollaston tomorrow morning. As you may be aware, there is significantly increased concern regarding the new Omicron covid variant and a range of measures have been announced by the Government in order to combat potential transmission, particularly in the run up to Christmas.

The Government and Department for Education have announced that face coverings will once again be mandatory for all students, staff and visitors in all indoor communal areas and corridors. This does not apply to classrooms or outdoors, but our policy remains to support mask wearing in any and all circumstances – so if staff or students choose to wear face coverings in lessons, they may do so.

From tomorrow morning, we will once again check on the gates that all students who enter Wollaston School have and are wearing a face covering on entry to Wollaston School.

We would also remind parents and students that face coverings should be worn on both school and public transport.

Thank you in advance for your support, and we would appreciate you taking the time to speak with your child about the importance of wearing face coverings. We have enjoyed very high rates of compliance when face coverings have been mandatory, and we want to ensure that we have three weeks of safe and effective learning before we break up for Christmas.

Yours sincerely

Mr James Birkett
