Head’s Newsletter – 10th February 2023

Dear parents and carers

It has been an exciting and entertaining week at Wollaston with our annual RAG week taking place to raise money for charity. On top of this we have our German exchange students in Bremen and will look forward to hearing all about their experiences as well as a variety of other trips and events that have happened this week.

RAG Week

Mr Mills writes “This week has seen an amazing array of events and performances involving staff and students as they have taken part in our annual RAG week.  The school’s senior students did an amazing job in organising bake sales, talent shows and dance extravaganzas.  As a result, they have been able to exceed their initial target, so far having raised £2700.  This is an excellent achievement and will mean that we will be able to make sizeable donations to this year’s charities: The British Heart Foundation, Young Minds and Northampton hospital’s Gossett Ward.  The senior students who made the week the success it has been were rightly proud of what they had achieved, they commented as to how rewarding it had been to see people having fun whilst also raising so much money.  Thank you to everyone who has been involved, making contributions or taking part, these events only succeed with the participation of the people across the school and the generosity of all is really appreciated.

Year 10 Motor Vehicles Trip to BCA training Academy, Corby.

Mr Myers and Mr Hollis- Brown write ““It was great to observe the excellent way in which the above students conducted themselves during the above trip. Students experienced workshops about different parts of the motor vehicle trade and some presentations about apprenticeships and how to impress at an interview. Student comments showed that they found the experience really valuable: Bradley ‘It was good to leant about the opportunities available to me when I leave school.’; Vince ‘It was an interesting starting point to find out about future careers.’; Nikkita ‘I really enjoyed the car spraying workshop.’; Leo ‘The car repair workshop was enjoyable.’”
