Head’s Newsletter – 20th January 2023

Good evening

Thank you to all parents who responded to the parental survey, we now have some great feedback that we can act upon and I will update you further once I have fully analysed the responses.

As you will no doubt be aware the National Education Union has voted for strike action. This action has been proposed for the following dates:

  • Wednesday 1 February 2023
  • Wednesday 01 March 2023
  • Wednesday 15 March 2023
  • Thursday 16 March 2023.

We are anticipating significant disruption to educational provision on these days and therefore you are likely to need to make provision for your children to not be in school. I will work with the Nene Valley Partnership to give you as much notice with regards to what provision can be made by Wollaston School for February 1st. I will communicate our intended plans with you as early as I can next week to afford you a reasonable amount of time to prepare.

Christmas Carol Play Review

Finlay Douthwaite Year 10 writes: “On Friday 20th January, Year 10 were lucky enough to watch a performance of A Christmas Carol.  The story presented in the play was a wonderful adaptation of the novel to a stage performance. The acting displayed was stellar, presenting the many nuances of each character succinctly and purposefully. Each scene was given its own time for its resonant events and the story was thankfully not bloated to fill more time than it needed. The set design was highly resourceful yet still conveyed a vibrant Victorian aesthetic. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the whole production was the actors’ ability to switch costumes and characters with the speed to keep the scene at a natural pace. Overall, a magnificent production of a classic story!”
