Halloween comes to Wollaston

Students and staff took part in two Halloween competitions on Wednesday 31st October.

For students the competition was Pumpkin Carving – in teams of 5 they had to use pre-selected designs and had only 50 minutes to work together to match the templates. The pumpkins were then placed on display in the school canteen.  Congratulations to Austen House who collectively took first place.  In second were Drake, Nightingale third and Churchill fourth.  Thank you to all students for taking part.

To avoid waste we have liaised with the local animal shelter who gratefully accepted the pumpkin remains to feed the pigs!

For staff it was the return of Trick or Treat, although treat is always limited to a few sweets at the start.  With a packed crowd of around 250 students, 4 staff teams faced food challenges to earn house points.  Pig was the menu theme for this year and staff had the pleasure of eating trotters, cheek, tail, ears, snout and brain before the eliminator (Pig eyes) took place!  A big thank you to our very brave volunteers; Mrs Bradley and Miss Stone for Austen, Mr Bodicoat and Mr Scholes for Churchill, Mr Mills and Miss Green for Drake and Miss Ames and Mr Braham-Nicoll for Nightingale.  Points for first place were shared between Austen and Churchill, Drake and Nightingale took second and third place respectively.

Next up is Children in Need (WB 12th November) – Look out for several events taking place.
