U17’s County Football Winners

Cup final success.

On a damp and dreary Wednesday evening, the under 17’s team made their way to Northampton School for Boys for their eagerly awaited cup final tie against a strong and reputable team from Caroline Chisholm School. The team demonstrated fantastic resilience and togetherness throughout the cup run to get them to the cup final lead by Jake Morrisey as Captain and Ashton Musgrave as Vice. Although the previous rounds had not been as challenging for the side they knew that this game posed as a difficult prospect.

The sides were very much even at the start of the game with both sides playing some eye catching football. Wollaston managed to take the lead through a Jake Morrisey goal inside the penalty area. After this Wollaston started to assert their authority on the game creating a number of fantastic chances which were unfortunately not taken.

This was a worry at half time as the lads knew this could possibly come back to bite them. Both sides started the second half well with Chisholm starting slightly brighter. However Wollaston then found their stride and created a number of great chance. One chance finally feel To Luka Whitehead who demonstrated his calmness under pressure as he netted a fantastic second goal for Wollaston. The game then saw an unfortunate sending off which left Chisholm with only 10 men to finish the game. However this proved to be their best spell of the game as they showed fantastic resilience and manged to pull a goal back in the final 15 minutes. This made the final part of the game extremely tense. However Wollaston showed brilliant game management and were able to see off the attacks which Chisholm executed on the side and were able to then score a third goal in the last minute by substitute Oliver Scola. The final whistle sounded and Wollaston were County Cup Champions winning 3-1.

Credit to both sides for displaying a fantastic game of football for the Fans who came to offer their support.
