Head’s Newsletter -2nd February 2024

Dear parents and carers

Wollaston Teacher Recruitment Day

You may have noticed that Wollaston School has been advertising a recruitment day on February 6th.  It is fair to say that recruitment in education has become a challenge in recent years across the sector and unfortunately, we have not been immune to these difficulties. We advertised across Northamptonshire and social media, and I am pleased to say that our campaign has been a great success, and we have many potential teachers who will be visiting us on Tuesday. We are also happy to welcome any current teachers or people who are interested in training to be a teacher who have not yet signed up. We are offering visits during Tuesday morning, Tuesday afterschool and Tuesday evening and anyone interested can contact our HR team directly on recruitment@wollaston-school.net

PE Update- Boccia Tournament at Wollaston!

Mr Bennett writes “On Wednesday Wollaston School was delighted to host the local district schools Boccia competition. Boccia is an accessible sport that helps students with specific physical and learning needs to develop and grow their coordination and physical skills. It is such a valuable opportunity for the students involved and the whole day was a richly fulfilling experience. Wollaston School Sports Leaders were pivotal in their support and running of the event and were superb in scoring and running each of the fixtures.

The morning saw 8 secondary schools attending, with teams of 5 students who competed throughout the morning. A real highlight was the involvement of the students from Wollaston School who access part of their education through our new Admiral House provision. The students and helpers from Admiral House were super and really enjoyed the morning.  During the afternoon, the local Primary Schools competed in a tournament, and we were delighted to host them and see all the primary students involved. It is a true credit to the Sports Leaders from Wollaston School that the event ran so well and thanks to Mr Roberts for all the work in training and developing the leaders beforehand. We also thank Mr Edd Reeves from N Sport for his great support and organisation.”
