OAP Christmas Party

On Wednesday 15th December, we were finally able to reopen the doors for the Wollaston OAP Christmas party. This is the event the Year 10 Hospitality and Catering class have been eagerly waiting for. We had ‘decked the hall’ and been preparing the catering the day before.

On arrival to the event, our guests were greeted at the door and escorted to the hall, where they were greeted with music, mince pies and tea or coffee. There was a real spirit of Christmas felt within the hall, as our guests were entertained with music, songs and dance from the very talented Performing Arts students.

At twelve o’clock we began serving the meal, this is what we had all been waiting for! One guest was quoted as saying ‘the best brussels I have ever tasted’ and ‘well done on the meal, the presentation was excellent and it was very tasty too!’.

After dinner, the quiz answers were announced and there was also a raffle. Mr Birkett thanked all our guests for attending and Mr Beeby (in his fetching jacket and tie) introduced the arrival of the special guest all the way from the North Pole! (or should we say Science department).

We really enjoyed hosting the event (even though our feet were aching from all the walking and serving food). The event helped us understand the catering business and we learnt the importance of portion control.

We would like to thank all our lovely guests for attending and Merry Christmas to you all!
