Headteachers Letter – 22nd April 2022

Dear Parents and carers,

I hope that you enjoyed some relaxation over the Easter break, and we are delighted to see students and staff return refreshed and ready for a highly successful summer term.

Rugby Champions!

I am delighted to say that the Year 11 Rugby team (supported by some Year 10 players) were successful in winning the County 15-a-Side competition yesterday. It was a fantastic match and Wollaston ended up winning 52-40.  The score line suggests a hectic game and at the start of the match Wollaston were down 19-0 after the first 14 minutes. Luckily  they came back into the game and the half time score was 19-14. A following wind in the 2nd half contributed to a surging performance from Wollaston and this enabled the team to gain the upper hand on the pitch and the score board.

There were some stand out performances from the team and also the players that joined from the subs bench all made a very positive contribution. A big thank you goes to Mr Kirk and Mr Bennett for supporting the team and to  Rushden Rugby club as the host of the neutral venue.  It was also  great to have such a large number of supporters in the crowd and Wollaston really gave them something to cheer about in the 2nd half. A picture of the team can be found on our website.

Congratulations to all involved and well done to our PE faculty on an incredibly successful season in a range of sports.  Onwards now to the summer season!
